Will the BRC-20 flame be rekindled? Bitcoin tokens hope for a comeback

In the world of crypto, every few months, a new word, a new concept becomes a trend. It remains the center of discussion for some time and then slowly disappears.

The same happened with BRC-20 tokens. These tokens created on the Bitcoin blockchain in 2023 surprised everyone. People thought that just like ERC-20 changed Ethereum, BRC-20 would give a new color to Bitcoin.

But the truth is that today the heat of BRC-20 has cooled down a lot. Many tokens (like ORDI, SATS) have come down 80-90% from their peak. Developer activity and market enthusiasm are also not the same.

Then the question arises can BRC-20 make a comeback?

In the coming months, there is talk of BRC 2.0 upgrade, which can make these tokens more programmable and flexible. If implemented correctly, it can pull the developer community again.

Some projects (like OrangeDX) are trying to bring trading, lending, and bridging to Bitcoin. If the real fun of DeFi starts on the Bitcoin network, BRC-20 tokens could get a new lease of life.

OrangeDX are building what they call a “Bitcoin DeFi hub” with features like trading, bridging, lending, and more they aim to mirror familiar Ethereum DeFi infrastructure.

Similarly, DCAHQ has integrated automated Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA), enabling recurring BRC-20 investments in a more user-friendly way.

Countries like China are still excited about these tokens. A Binance listing and support from the local community could bring them back into the spotlight.

For now, the story of BRC-20 seems like a “forgotten trend.” But crypto history shows that sometimes such forgotten concepts make a sudden comeback due to new technology, a major event, or a fresh hype.

So, it would be too early to dismiss it completely.

Maybe in the coming years we will ask again -

Was BRC-20 Bitcoin’s hidden trump card?
